The Pop Series Pokémon TCG (Trading Card Game) cards are a set of promotional cards released to celebrate the Pokémon Trading Card Game's popularity and to encourage players to participate in organized play events. These cards were distributed between 2004 and 2009 in a series of nine mini-sets, often given as rewards for attending Pokémon Organized Play (POP) tournaments, leagues, or special events.
Key Features of POP Series Cards:
-
Exclusive Distribution:
- Players received small booster packs (typically containing two cards) as participation rewards.
- Cards were not sold commercially, making them relatively rare and collectible.
-
Set Composition:
- Each POP Series contained between 17 and 25 cards.
- The sets included a mix of reprints from previous expansions, promotional cards, and exclusive cards.
- Some sets featured rare holofoil cards or special promos.
-
Notable Cards:
- POP Series 1-5: Included cards like Umbreon, Espeon, and Pikachu, which became fan favorites.
- POP Series 5: Featured highly sought-after gold star cards, such as Espeon ★ and Umbreon ★.
- POP Series 9: Introduced cards that were harder to obtain due to the discontinuation of the program shortly after.
Each POP pack contains two promo cards
